The Twenties

I hope the past decade was filled to the brim with exciting moments, challenges that pushed you to evolve, learnings for the future and experiences that guided your dreams. It has now all fallen away so try to hold on to what you need for tomorrow but let the rest go and I hope you are able to enter the Twenties with a clear mind and a clear heart.

The way year's end and decades begin is something that can be used to fuel motivation. I believe that whenever you feel the need to change and evolve, you should do it regardless of the calendar. However, the marker of time set by something like a New Year does afford the opportunity of deeper introspection (something I guess we should try and do regularly) but its a good time to tie things up, to forgive or to apologise and to look ahead and turn the page. I just think that if you have not had the chance yet then maybe take this as a sign to do the next right thing that enables you to be the best version of yourself as you enter (what literally is) a new era.

I have been asking a lot of people what the most important thing they learnt last year was and it's SO interesting to see how people have grown in different, inspiring ways. Something that I learnt myself was that (sounds so cheesy) but change really does come from within. If you at any given time, in any place feel like there is something you want to change, you are truly capable of initiating that change for yourself. You definitely do not control everything around you but you can always control how you process it. The energy you assign to it and the time you hold on to it and in the end these are the things that will define the world around you more than anything. There is no obligation to react with pure emotion, you have within you the capacity to take a step back and choose to change, be better, learn and grow - whenever you want to.

A year is comprised of twelve months and when you break it all down, twelve months isn't that long at all, it usually flies by. That being said, when you look back, it'll represent a year of your life. Please don't wait for a NYE to take steps in the the direction of who you want to be, do it today and now and just start somewhere with an idea. Don't lose focus, set time aside everyday to work on yourself, look at every situation as an opportunity to develop yourself and never stop dreaming.

I could keep filling this with pieces of advice, little takeaways and ideas but more than anything just remember that you have it within you to be happy, it starts with a decision to not be defined by anything other than your own energy. You can be everything you want to be without limitations, if you make the time to work through things, rise above anything that pulls you down and face challenges head-on with the confidence that you are absolutely absolutely and truly capable of extraordinary things.

Always keep smiling,

Ux
