Advice of the Disney variety

I have been planning to write this for the longest time and don't worry, it's not just about 'seeing the glass as half full', it's all about inspiration and this incredible variety of magic that offers us food for thought and so much more - I imagine the this post will sound more like me that I do.. aaaand that's the end of the disclaimer.

Whatever your opinion is on Disney, I am sure that somewhere in your heart there is at least one Disney memory that makes you feel warm and fuzzy and happy. This memory could be a visit to a park, seeing a movie or reading a Disney story! If you kinda know me, you'll kinda know that Disney is a massive part of who I am and it's not just the fairytales (although they are they are delightful, genius and a pillar of my psyche) but there is SO much more to be learnt from the work Disney does and after seeing a recent new movie by Disney/Pixar, I just gotta type some words up.

It's always cool to know that Disney is out there trying (and loudly succeeding) to convince children and adults alike that magic is real, it's also pretty cool to know that there is precious life advice on the surface and hidden 300 layers deep in their fairytales.

The fact that in the middle of Disney movies there is always something going wrong with the protagonist trying their best to figure a way out makes me smile - it's super relatable when it comes to sticky situations in real life - we're just in the middle part of the Disney movie and everything's gonna turn out more or less dreamy. YES, damnit, YES. There are always choices to be made to save the day in a Disney movie and just like that in real life, at various points we all have to make game-changing decisions that seem tricky, we may be unsure but we have to keep faith that we are trying our best - just like the beloved characters in so many Disney movies.

In the movies, we often see the characters conflicted and we see them grow and become completely different to what they were at the beginning of the movie, they evolve and transform and learn - much like the fantastic people we all meet in real life, the loved ones we know and the super cool people we are striving to become! Through animated mastery, the movies show the journeys we all take or will take and they remind us to have courage and be kind as we (and everyone else on Earth) figures out how to keep the plates spinning, overcome the challenges and find that happy ending. The happy ending never has to be a Prince, Princess and carriage - it can be anything that brings you bliss, peace, happiness - in fact, it doesn't have to be an 'end' at all. The best part of any movie (especially Disney movies aha) is always the story, the middle bits, the in-between, the character building, the awesome scores and it's not the end we're waiting for - in real life and movies, the end is inevitable but no one's really waiting for it... surely the journey, the story and the time here and now is beautiful, worthy of being lived to fulfilment and truly ideal to cherish? Whether its the classic Disney movies (here's looking at Peter Pan, all my beloved Princess movies, Lion King, Toy Story) or the more recent ones (Ratatouille, Frozen, Moana, Up!) - sidetone: I am desperate to list every Disney movie here, there's too many masterpieces to choose from - The stories encourage you to imagine, to believe in more than what you are and focus on what you can become, to lift others, to change your life, follow your dreams and truly believe that goodness, sincerity and kindness will take you a long way. I adore that, all of that and I know there is something in all these fairytales that everyone can find inspiration from, I hope you throw on a Disney movie at some point in the near future and see something that lights a spark in your heart.

I sincerely believe that we can all write our own fairytales and that the word 'fairytale' embodies anything we want it to - whatever magic we choose to make our own.

Make your magic,
Ux
