Don't give up

Know yourself, know your dreams, know your mistakes and how to better yourself. Dream BIG and don't stop working, hoping, manifesting, planning and actioning until those dreams come true. Because they will, just as long as you don't give up on them.

I am a massive advocate of Imran Khan + his work. He is the former captain of Pakistan cricket team (the captain when Pakistan won the Cricket World Cup) and the current Prime Minister of Pakistan (best leader to date).  In between, he is the founder of the first hospitals in Pakistan that provide free cancer treatment, he's a visionary, educator, a brilliant speaker, author and all-round phenomenal force to be reckoned with.

I found a 2011 TedTalk that featured Imran Khan in Karachi and he talked about how to make the impossible possible. Now, you may not know of him or his work but inspiration comes from anywhere so if you have time and would like to hear him speak, the TedTalk can be found here.

I love hearing about how inspirational people use their energy and how their minds work and I learnt some incredible things after listening to him talk for twenty minutes about eight years ago (how is it 2019?!?) and I felt compelled to share some of the things that really resonated:
  • The bigger your dreams are, the bigger your setbacks will be and the bigger your failures will be. You will be walking the path never walked before so expect shocks and of course, the bigger your dreams, the bigger the shocks will be.
  • Achieving the impossible is all about how you handle the bad times. Think about it, how do you cope when things aren't going your way, how do you bounce back from failures - these are the times that will determine how you win at life.
  • Analyse yourself, know how to learn from your experiences in a practical way that can help eliminate future mistakes.
  • Do not scale down your ambitions after mistakes, it's a trap so don't fall in it. Do not compromise on your dreams or goals no matter how tempting it is.
  • Your mind truly is a powerful tool and you can only learn the extent of its power when you challenge yourself, so do just that. Challenge yourself and rise to difficult circumstances with confidence in your abilities.
  • A fear of losing will stop you from winning - never give your mind that option, only think there is one way and that one way is focused on how you will achieve your goals.
  • There are no shortcuts to achieving great things, you have to go through the process and truly it is the process that shapes you and makes you that much stronger.
I bet you have some brilliant dreams, and I hope you achieve them all.
